Well-Balanced Beauty

Beauty and Balance are always more than skin deep to me.  So to start, how are YOU feeling?  How are you handling the year 2020?

2020 is hard. Life in general is hard and then you add 2020 to it... whew.  Me?  I’m exhausted.  The anxiety, the empathy I feel, the extreme desire to want to make a positive change in this world, the doubt, the worry, the constant change, and the fact that it’s taken me five hundred times longer to write this post because of Harper, my toddler.... all of that seems to be SO PRESENT in my life, and it’s exhausting right now for me. 

One thing that years of therapy has tried to teach me is, redirecting.  Specifically for me, redirecting anxious thoughts.  Anxiety for me is like a whirlpool, the outside of my whirlpool typically spins pretty slowly, it’s there, but, I can usually swim in and out of it, however, if I allow myself to stay... I spiral faster and faster and it’s harder to leave.

We’re already over half way through 2020.  Is your goal for this year to just hurry and be over?  Maybe, your thought was that you could wait it out, and eventually life would be normal again?  That was my plan.  However, that leaves me stuck in that fast whirlpool of anxiety... just waiting.  My new goal for the next half of 2020, is to redirect.  I don’t want to wait out the next 6 months of 2020.  I want to redirect to the point that the next 6 months of 2020 are successful.  I am going to redirect my thoughts and actions.  I encourage you to take some time to find what triggers your negative thoughts, so you can recognize when you need to FORCE your brain to switch focus.  I’m going to redirect what I feed those thoughts with, especially on social media... hello unfollow button...and I’m posting what inspires me so it’s out in the world for others to see.  *Insert, Welcome to Well-Balanced Beauty!  I’m redirecting what actions I am taking, for me personally, concentrating on my family, and writing, here, for the whole world to see.  2020 is throwing so much we can’t control.  I’m shifting focus to what’s in my control.  I’m in control of my thoughts, what I feed my thoughts with, and how I react.  I’m going to redirect 2020 to be my best year yet.
